PAPAKURA’S TOWN BAND.
BOARD PROPERTY TRUSTEES. The Papakura Town Band, which was formed some 19 months ago, has, like similar organisations in country , townships, become defunct. The Papakura Band is rather fortunate in one respect, and that is that it still ’ has a vast amount of property in hand and which will be useful at some future date if the band is reformed. At last night’s meeting of the Town Board a letter -was received from Messrs L. J. Mills and A. M. Richardson, members of the band, requesting that the Board take over the whole of the property of the band, including an iron shed on the railway reserve (which it wanted removed to the Park), 19 instruments, 15 bags and belts, music stands, in fact everything pertaining to a wellequipped band. It was pointed out that the shed could be used by athletic clubs and football clubs for a nominal fee, with a proviso that the band have free use of the shed. On the motion of Messrs Rae and Campbell, it was decided to accept the band’s offer and that the Board act as trustee for the property. The band is to be thanked for its generosity.
Members expressed the hope that at some future date the band would be resurrected.
