NEW COURTHOUSE.

ACTION BY MAYOR, The Mayor of Pukekohe (Mr C. K. Lawrie) has just received a reply to a wire he had sent to the Minister for Justice, the Hon. E. P. Lee, regarding the delay in connection with the erection of a new courthouse at Pukekohe. Briefly, the Minister’s reply is to the effect that Cabinet had authorised the building in brick and had allotted a sum of £3OOO for that purpose. However, on tenders being called, it was found that the lowest tender exceeded the amount authorised and endeavours were now being made to modify the contract to bring it within reach of the funds available.
