BOWLING.
PUKEKOHE DEFEATS WAIUKU. FOR WRIGHT MEMORIAL CUP. Three rinks representing the Waiuku Bowling' Club visited Eukekohe on Thursday in an. endeavour to win the Monty Wright Memorial Cup—a cup donated by the Pukekohe Bowling Club for competition between the two clubs in memory of the late Mr C. Monty Wright,' a prominent and esteemed member of the local club. Earlier in the season Pukekohe triumphed over a challenge from Waiuku, and on Thursday retained the trophy after a splendid game. It was only in the concluding stages of the match that the home team pulled the result out of the fire. Mr James Roulston (President of the Pukekohe Club) extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, stating that Pukekohe players were always pleased to see Waiuku on the local green. Good feeling existed between the two clubs,, and he hoped the same friendly spirit would always continue. He congratulated Waiuku on the fight they put up, expressing the hope that next time the clubs met that Waiuku would be successful, and take the trophy home with them.
Cheers were given for the visitors, after which Mr D. Neil returned thanks, stating that next time Waiuku would succueed. Cheers w-ere given for Pukekohe, and the ladies. Afternoon tea was dispensed, and duly appreciated. Results were as follows, Pukekohe being mentioned first in each instance :
