PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

WEDNESDAY’S MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council was held on Wednesday night, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr. C K. Lawrie), Grs. A. P. Daysh, F. J. Morrow, J. Patterson, R. Bilkey, the clerk (Mr. J. F. Deane), the electrical engineer (Mr W. Wyatt) and the engineer (Mr. D. W. McArthur) . Apologies for absence were received from Crs. D. R. Hamilton H. H. McGough, Geo. H. Armstrong, and J. 11. Keith. Webb’s Road. Mr* J. W. Bell waited on the Council. and urged that Webb’s Road be attended to before the winter set in. He pointed out that in the winter time the road was impassable and was a danger to anyone using it.—Cr. Bilkey supported the request. On the motion of Cr. Patterson, the matter was referred to the W'orks Committee with power to act. Mr. Bell mentioned that property owners in the vicinity would be pleased to give a day or two towards putting the road in order. Anzac Road. Mr. L. M. Hardy and seven other ratepayers residing on Pukekohe Hill drew the Council’s attention to the unsatisfactory state of disrepair into which Anzac Road has lately been falling and requested the road be attended to before the winter sets in. —Referred to the Works Committee to inspect and report on at next meeting Caific Subway. The district engineer, New Zealand railways, intimated that the cattle subway now being constructed at the southern end of Pukekohe railway station would be completed in time to allow of its being used for the Franklin A. and P. Society’s Show, which commenced on Friday, February 25, and it would be necessary to have the approaches on the railway land fenced off before that date. He asked the Council to arrange to fence off the necessary portion of the road. The Mayor reported that he and Cr. Daysh had made the necessary arrangements and their action was endorsed. Finance.. Accounts amounting to £872 10s were passed for payment. -

The debit balance of the district fund account was shown at £193 Is 6d.
