FRANKLIN A. AND P. SOCIETY.

AUTUMN SHOW. FEBRUARY 25 AND 26. RECORD ENTRIES.

- Show enthusiasts from all parts of the Franklin County* -and many localises much further afield, will no cioubt be represented in the attendance at the Franklin’s A. and P. Society’s Autumn Show, which takes place on the Show Ground on Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26, 1921. For many years past the Society has striven to make the Franklin Show an event worth coming many miles to see, as well as to make the trip an enjoyable one in every respect. The show has now reached a high standard of efficiency, and can be classed among the., best of its kind in the Dominion. Last year’s exhibition was an unqualified success from eveiy point of view, and it is quite on the cards that ithe 1921 Autumn Show will eclipse all previous records,- if the number of entries received is anything to judge by. Last year over 2000 entries came forward, and the Society claimed this to be a provincial record. For the event which- takes place on February 25 and 26 next, last year’s entries have been eclipsed. For the horse, cattle, sheep and pigs’ classes about 1100 entries have been received. Five hundred and thirtyone have been received for the horse section, 400 for the cattle, 100 foi ■ sheep, and 25 for pig classes. Some or the best horses in the province have been entered, while the best quality should come forward as far as the cattle classes are concerned. The milking Shorthorns and Jersey sections are again the strongest, and competition among the Jerseys is likely to be particularly ' keen, in view of the fact that a £SO prize is offered for the champion cow and bull. Already great interest is being taken and a number of shrewd enthusiasts are predicting the likely winners In the hall sections flowers and fruit are weak, but vegetables and home industries are particularly strong The school sections have been liberally patronised, as 214 entries have been received for this section, cue writing class alone attracting 42 exhibitors •His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Jeliicoe, Admiral of the Fleet, has promised to attend, while Sir Frederick Lang, M.P. fpr Manukau and Speaker in the House of Representatives, has also signified his intention of being present. Owing to Parliamentary duties, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, and member for Franklin, may not be able to be present. One and all are cordially invited to make the show a huge success.
