The results of experiment in paper making from pulp manufactured from New Zealand forest trees were mentioned by the Mayor in the course of his speech of welcome to M. Henri Segaert, Consul-General for Belgium, * at the civic reception at Christchurch recently. Dr. Thacker said that before the war New Zealand timbers were tested as to their suitability for producing wood pulp for the manu- * facture of paper, and at present there was in Christchurch half a' ton of paper made from these timbers. The Mayor added t' at this paper was equal to any manufactured from wood pulp in any country.
