. WORE STILL RETARDED. i For some time -iThe Tuakau Town hnd under eonsideraA%n the question of regrading and formation of Harrisville Road, but although loan money has been allocated for the work, it could not proceed until the intentions of the Railway Department, in connection with improvements at Tuakau railway station yards were known. At the last meeting of the Board, the clerk was instructed to communicate with the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, asking him to visit Tuakau and inspect the proposed works, when on his visit to Pukekohe in connection with the opening of the Technical High School. In reply, Mr. Massey stated that he regretted it would be impossible for him to visit Tuakau on that occasion, as it was a very hurried visit. He assured ( the Board at Tuesday night’s meeting that he would arrange for the General Manager of Railways to visit Tuakau and discuss the matter with the Board, when he was next in the district.
Members .generally were disgusted with the attitude of the General Manager of Railways in not visiting Tuakau when he promised to do so on various occasions.
Mr. Sim stated that on three occasions the General Manager of Railways had promised to visit Morrinsville within a fortnight, but he understood he did not keep to his promise, and eventually an indignation meeting was held which was largely attended. He hinted that Tuakau should do the same.
Eventually it was decided to interview the Premier and Minister of Railways on the subject when on his visit to Pukekohe.
