WAR MEMORIAL.
DESIGN SELECTED. PERMISSION TO ERECT GIVEN. A deputation from the War Memorial Committee, consisting of Messrs. Dell and Perkins, waited upon the Borough Council on Wednesday evening with the object of securing the Council’s sanction to erect the memorial upon the borough’s newly-ac-quired park. Mr. Perkins, as spokesman,, said the committee bad selected a gate design costing £4OO and, subject to approval, this would be the design erected. In reply to a questioner, the Mayor stated that the Memorial Committee consisted of the Council and Messrs. Dell and Perkins. The Mayor then moved that the Public Committee be granted permission to erect the war memorial upon the newly-acquired park. This was carried unanimously. A sub-committee, consisting of the Mayor, Cr. Armstrong and Messrs. Dell and Perkins, was set up to deal with the matter of the erection of the memorial.
