PROGRESSIVE N.Z. INDUSTRY For some years past all spoilsmen have become aware of the in-leasing cost of cartridges, and, therefore, they will be glad to learn that reductions have now been made in; the prices of the famous C.A.C. ammunition. These dependable New Zealandmade cartridges are now to be obtained from any dealer or storekeeper throughout the Dominion, at rates which represent a big saving when compared with the imported article. It is thirty-five years since the Colonial Ammunition Company’s factory was started in Auckland, and in recent years great progress has been made. Over £15,000 worth of new machinery has been lately installed, and the plant is now the latest in existence. Every facility exists at the C.A.C. works for producing cartridges that are absolutely, sound, fresh and reliable.
The company is entirely a New Zealand enterprise. The capital is New Zealand money, the shareholders are New Zealand residents, and the workers are New Zealanders.i All the component parts of every C.A.C. cartridge are made by the company; the brass, copper for percussion caps, and the caps themselves, paper tube, the base wad or pellet—made from N.Z. paper, brass cup for base of cartridge, the cap chamber, anvils, shot, felt—made from N.Z. hair, felt wad; in short, everytting except the actual explosive, which is the finest that can be imported. The popular sporting cartridges are the “Favourite” and “Nitro-Special,” both of which have a splendid reputation in New Zealand and Australia.
