TUAKAU.
TOWN BOARD MEETS TO-NIGHT. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board will be held to-night at eight o’clock.
THE TUAKAU DOMAIN.
For some considerable time past, efforts have been made by the Tuakau Town Board to meet in conference with the Tuakau Domain Board to consider the advisability or otherwise of disposing of a portion of the Tuakau Domain Reserve, the proceeds to be utilised in acquiring- a ground in a more central position. The matter was discussed by the Town Board at its November meeting, when it was decided to petition the Government to hav.e a clause inserted in the Wash-ing-up Bill to have the Domain included in the Town Board area. However, the matter was not dealt with then, but the Town Board is now in receipt of a communication from the
Commissioner of Crown Lands to the effect that he had had forwarded to him a file of correspondence on the matter, together with a letter from the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. F. Hassey, for a report. He suggested the advisability of a conference between the Town and Domain Boards, on a suitable date, and requested the Board to inform him of the date of the proposed conference. He stated he had written a similar letter to the Domain Board and suggested the Town Board get in touch with it.— The matter will be considered at tonight’s meeting of the Board.
