SINKING OF U.S. TRANSPORTS DENIED
LONDON, October 22. Lieutenant-general D. Eisenhower announced that the German claims in September that several large liners heavily laden with American troops had been torpedoed were completely unfounded. He added that this information was withheld until every American soldier on the Atlantic at the time of the German announcement landed safely in' the United Kingdom.
