' CITY COMMITTEE'S CAMPAIGN FINAL EFFOrThEXT FRIDAY The Dunedin-St. Kikla Patriotic Committee will make its final effort for the year next, Friday. The chairman, Mr A. C. Cameron, said yesterday that only £I,OOO was now required to complete Dunedin’s quota of £84,000, and he expressed his confidence that the amount would be raised next week. Mr Cameron said that the committee had carried out a fairly long campaign, which had been started last February, All -the members had worked strenuously, and all were giving their co-operation to assure the success of this 1 effort, which would take the form of a street day. Badges would be sold, and the co-operation of the various women’s organisations, including the Red Cross and women’s committees of the Labour movement, had been obtained. In addition to the street appeal, all the primary and secondary schools in Dunedin will give assistance in what will be a “ floral day.” A flower stall will be conducted by each of the girls’ secondary schools at some point in the main streets, and the Dugout will be in charge of primary school teachers. Flowers will be supplied by pupils of the schools. The gardening circle of the Women’s Club, which will use the Garrison Hall a/s a depot, will sort the flowers and make them into attractive bunches, posies, and buttonholes. This work will begin on Thursday afternoon, and iwill be continued on Friday morning. The boys’ secondary schools will assist by asking each boy to undertake to earn from 2s fid to 5s by gardening or other work, either at his own home or that of a neighbour. An appeal is made to members of the public to assist by offering the boys work at the rate of Is an hour. RECENT CONTRIBUTIONS.
