ST. KILDA HARRIERS
THOMPSON MEMORIAL CUP The sports meeting of the St. Kilda Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club drew a small but keen field, and some outstanding performances were witnessed. ’ The trophy for competition was the A. R. Thompson Memorial Cup, presented in memory of a member of the club who was killed in action in Libya on December 1, 1941. W. E. Mackintosh and P. J. Robertson finished even with 18 points each, P. C. Walker coming next with 17 points. Mackintosh won the 100yds, 440yds, and the mile He was second in the 880yds and third in the 220yds. In the hop, step, .and
jump he was second with 38ft 6in, in the high jump third with 4ft 7in, and in the shot putt first with 26ft 6iu. Robertson finished second in the ICOyds, 220yds. and 440yds, was first in the 880yds and second in the mile. In the field events Robertson was first in the high jump with 4ft 9in, third in the broad jump, third in the hop, step, and jump, and second in the shot putt. Walker was first in the high jump with sft. He also won the hop, step, end jump with 40ft 3in, which is only 2ft Of in less than the record of G. Clarke, the Otago junior champion Other competitors who did weil .were P. Finnegan and A. Campbell.
