POLICE COURT
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23. (Before Mr H. \V. Bundle, S.M.) Paul Hannah, aged 40, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to enrol. _ Ho was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Similarly charged, Patrick William Carolin was aDo sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. For failing to pay his tram fare, Wilfred Reginald Meek was fined 30s and costs. William Hugh Henry New all was fined 7s 6d and costs for allowing a chimney to catch lire. On a charge of casting offensive matter in a public place, Ernest Alfred Wood was fined 30s and costs. Alfred James Brown (aged 21), represented by Mr A. G. Neill, pleaded guilty to the theft of a quantity of carpet from a dwelling.—After hearing the facts, His Worship placed Brown on probation for tw'o year? and ordered him to make restitution of £2O. John Davidson Walker, for exceeding the speed limit, was fined 28s and 12s costs.
