AUSTRALIAN RAW MATERIALS

WANTED BY AMERICA CANBERRA, October 22. The United States is sending a special economic mission to Australia to procure bigger quantities of raw materials for its war industries. It is understood that the mission will .propose that American business concerns should invest largo sums of money to help iif the development of Australia’s mineral resources

Some of the commodities wanted by (be United States in increasing quantities are zinc, lead, and copper. The United States is also taking from Australia heavily-increased quantities of wool, all kinds of skins, and some sugar. .

Four or five specialists will shortly come to Australia representing the United States Board of Economic Warfare. They will bo permanent representatives of the board in Australia to assist iu the supply problems of the two nations. The board handles private ns well as Government transactions, and thus differs from the LeaseLend mission, which deals exclusively in Governjnent exchange of supplies.
