WEEK-END ANGLING
PROSPECTS GOOD Angling prospects for Labour week-end are good throughout the whole of Otago. Practically every one of the many fishing streams is in good order, and unless a break in the weather occurs anglers should benefit from the favourable conditions which have arisen as a result of the calm, warm weather of this past week. The Pomahaka and Waipahi were reported thisvmorning to be very good. Conditions have also improved in the Shag and Waikonaiti Rivers, and some good, heavy fish were taken from the Shag tidal waters last week-end The Otago Anglers’ Association held its first competition last Saturday pit (lie Tomahawk Lagoon. Windy conditions affected the angling, and only three fish were caught by 13 entrants. T. Galway gained first place and F. Peters second. On Saturday, October 30, the association will stage the boys’ competition on the Leith, and ihe following week-end there will be important competitions on the Waipahi River. Saturday, November,?, is set down for Hie open competition, and on the Sunday the Harry Williams Shield competition will be held.
