REFUGEES FROM BURMA
ARRIVING IN INDIA (Rw. 11..J5 ii.m.) CALCUTTA, October 27. As tlio result of a respite,in the monsoons refugees who have been cut off for months in tho Burmese jungle by torrential' rain are now arriving- in India. The refugees were kept alive for months by supplies dropped from aircraft which crossed the treacherous mountains and through heavy air-poc-keted cloud. Guides from Assam attempted to bring groups of refugees back, but found some of them in such a bad state that they had to await for better weather and medical supplies. British officers and British Indian troops are constantly patrolling large areas of Northern Burma, gaining information about the enemy’s dispositions.
