ARMY AND AIR CASUALTIES
TOTAL OF 13,180 (Special.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. Official details of the casualties suffered bv the New Zealand Army and to the R.N.Z.A.F. are contained in the reports of these services presented to Parliament yesterday. There are no casualty figures in the Navy report, but those of the other two services make a total of 13,180. 1 The officer commanding the New Zealand forces reported that on May 31last Army casualties were as follows:
Since the outbreak of war to March 31 last, casualties,to the New Zealand Air Force personnel officially reported have been as follows:—Killed, 529; missing, believed killed, 51; missing, 135; prisoners of war or interned, 132; missing,' believed prisoners of war, 6; total, 853. During the year in New Zealand there were 30 fatal flying accidents, involving loss of 54 lives. Two lives were lost in falls from aircraft. Four deaths were recorded in non-service accidents, and two deaths were due to natural causes;
