BURNSIDE MARKET
Larger yai-dings and poorer quality generally had an easing effect on values in the fat beef market at to-day’s Burnside sales. Average to medium quality comprised the , bulk of the yarding. The top price for bullocks was £29 7s 6d, for fat heifers £l7 2s 6d, while fat cows made up to £l6 17» 6d. In the yarding of fat sheep there wer# several pens of good quality ewes. Wether# were iu shorter supply than usual. Th# market opened firm, and ewes sold at keen competition, prices improving to 2s a head over last week’s values. Top price for young ewes was 475, while wethers, which were of poorer descriptions than at recent sales, made up to 50s. Lambs were forward iu large numbers and met with a keen sale, prices -being 3s to 4s above those of last week. ’ Best lambs realised up to 49s 6d. ta the pig sections porkers and baconers were in the usual supply, and for these there was again spirited competition. Best- baconers made up to £6 17s, and best porkers to £5. Store pigs also met with a ready sale, maintaining late values. Best weaners made from 29s to 325. Store cattle, of which,, there was a medium yarding, found a ready” sale at prices above last week’s values.
