SERIOUS CHARGES

Charges of having attempted to commit an unnatural offence on a male, and, secondly, with having indecently, assaulted a male, were brought against William. Thomas Moulin (48) in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. The accused pleaded not guilty and was defended by Mr C.-J. L. White. Evidence was giv.en by a youth aged 18, who recounted how he had met the accused on the night of August 28 and agreed to meet him the following - night. In the meantime witness informed the police, and two detectives had followed the pair to the reclaimed land. On the way Moulin had procured two bottles of , beer from an hotel. Tho shadowing police had lost contact with the pair, -however. Witness described what had taken place on the reclaimed area.

The accused, in a statement to the police, denied the offence, stating that as he thought it was unlawful to drink beer in a back street he had gone to a quiet place to do so. 1

Mr White called no evidence for the de. fence.

The Crown Prosecutor (Mr F. B. Adams) and Mr White addressed the jury, the latter stressing the fact that q trap, which, however, had proved abortive, had been laid by the police, and, further, that the youth was obviously an accomplice whosa story had not been corroborated. . . His Honour having summed up, the jury retired at 11.25.
