PLATING MATERIAL

RESTRICTION IMPOSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 19. Commenting on the Plating Control Notice, which has been gazetted, the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan, said to-nigut that restrictions had been imposed on plating materials to meet the situation as it exists locally. The notice prohibits the use of tin or tin salts, chromic acid, chromic salts, cadmium, cadmium salts, copper, copper salts, nickel and nickel salts for any plating, except certain equipment for the armed forces. Plating materials, the Minister said, must not be used except under a permit from certain recognised authorities. The notice was definitely designed to meet the needs of New Zealand’s munitions programme and essentiality was the only basis upon which materials could be used.
