OTAGO CRICKET

COMPETITIONS START SATURDAY TEN SENIOR TEAMS The Otago Cricket Association Committee decided last night that the senior, intermediate, and second grade A competitions should start on Saturday, and that for the remaining grade (second B) as soon as the requisite wickets were available. Mr W. 11. Brinsley presided over an attendance of 20 members. COMPETING TEAMS.

The following entries were accepted for the various grades:— Senior Grade. —Albion-Y.M.C.A., High School Old Boys, Dunedin, North-east Valley, Grange, Carisbrook, Air Force; Artillery, Kaikorai, University. Intermediate. —Air Force, Kaikorai, Green Island, Army F, Army R, Army T, Army W. Second Grade A. —Albion-Y.M.C.A., Grange, North-east Valley, Carisbrook, Taien, Port Chalmers, Tonga Park, Array F, Kaikorai. Second Grade B.—King’s High School, Kaikorai A, Kaikorai B, High School, Air Cadets A, Air Cadets B, Port Chalmers, Carisbrook. It was left to the Grade Committee to promote one of the second grade A teams to the intermediate grade so as to obviate a bye. . The Tonga Park team in the second grade A competition will be a DuuedinOld Boys’ eleven GENERAL. It was resolved that matches in all grades should this season be played on the same principle of divided batting time. It was agreed that, with the exception of those in which teams outside Dunedin are concerned, the hours of play shall be the same as those observed last season, namely 1.30 to 6.30 p.m. For the convenience of umpires desiring to leave earlier it was further agreed that suitable arrangements to carry on might be made by the captains of each side.
