HUGE EXPENDITURE
AMERICAN WAR FINANCE WASHINGTON, October 17. President Roosevelt reported to Congress that United' States expenditure will total 80,044,000,000 dollars during the year ended June, 1943. The report said'that 74,000,000,000 dollars would be for war purposes and 4,194,000,000 dollars for non-war purposes, with interest amounting to 1,850,000,000 dollars.» Government non-war expenditure had been cut by more than a third from the 1939 peak. The figure of 74,000,000,000 dollars for war purposes in 1943 is 20.000,000,000 higher than the Government expected to spend when President Roosevelt sent his message to the Congress last January.
