Fourth prizes will be given in each race. Messrs Irwin, Black, Hadfield, Halliday, and Ferguson were appointed the Judicial Committee for tire spring meeting. It was decided to increase the insurances on the club's buildings at Forbury Park from £19,165 to £40,000. Two new members were elected. Mr D. H. B'.ackie, chairman of the Totalizator Sub-committee, presented a report, supported with plans, on the proposed alterations to the totalisator house in the inside enclosure. The alterations provide for the housing of both win and place machines above the selling windows, and indicators on the northern end of the main stand. Patrons will thus be able to see the individual investments on the horses, and also the approximate odds on the indicator. The latter will be calculated by a new system which is likely to prove much more accurate than the old way, and changes in the position of the ribbons will be made every lime alterations are made on Hie investments. The sub-committee had discussed the working of the totalisator with Mr Geo. Willielmsen, Messrs James Ltd.’s late manager, and he estimated that tickets and plant would cost about £750, and the structural alterations about £l5O. Tlie work of making the alterations necessary was already under way, a tender having been let to the Love Construction Company at £125. The report was adopted, the chairman complimenting Mr Blackie and his committee on the very thorough consideration they had given the matter and the completeness of the report. At yesterday’s meeting of members of the Vincent Jockey Club it was decided that it would not be advisable to hold a meeting on January 9 on its own course. It is understood that the Dunedin Jockey Club will now apply for that date. At Washdyke to-morrow K. E. Wilson has been engaged to ride Beau Ciel, Gunga Din, Silver Mask, Pioneer, and Prince Shad. W. F. Ellis will ride The Raker, King Herod, Kernel, and Sigrid. C. T. Wilson will have the mount on Arabian Night in the Kerrylown Handicap. Battledress was handicapped to give Boloyna 161 b in the Wellington Racing Club Handicap (Ilf), and in the Ranfurly Handicap last Saturday Royal Lancer gave Boloyna 101 b All three are likely to be engaged m the New Zealand Cup, and it will be interesting to see how the C.J.C. handicapper assesses them. If Kindergarten is nominated for the Cup, Mr Russell will not have to look far to find a top weight. When Scottish Dale was beaten by a length by All Night at the Geraldine meeting she was ridden by the stable apprentice, and had the advantage of a 71b allowance. She looked to be on the big side in condition at that meeting, and stopped rather badly in the straight for a mare that has won over seven furlongs in top class company. She should have benefited by that race, and is likely to be a shortpriced selection in the Flying Handicap tomorrow. The following are the acceptances for the principal events at the A.J.C.
