NAZIS IN BELGIUM

MANY PATRIOTS SHOT LONDON, October 11. More patriots have fallen to the bullets of firing squads in Belgium than in the whole of the last war, declared 3VI. Antoine Dclfosso, Belgian Minister of Justice, who recently escaped to England. The terror of famine, ho added, reigned in Belgium, where pre-tubereu-lar conditions had attacked an enormous number of young people. FAMINE SWEEPING COUNTRY LONDON, Oct. 12. . “ Famine is sweeping Belgium, and the health of the people is lamentable through lack of food and fuel. Concentration camps and prisons arc overflowing,” said M. Antoine Delfosso, Belgian Minister of Justice and Information, who recently escaped from Belgium. “ For every one executed 100 will rise. The church stands in the van of resistance. Belgium is loyally attached to the monarchy, and all eyes and ears ore turned to London, whence victory must come. From Cologne and other Rhineland cities come streams of German civilians seeking refuge. This is just the turning of the scales, and has aroused no pity among the Belgians, who jump for joy when they hear British aircraft overhead. “ The Belgians are quick to notice signs of German disintegration. With the exception of the coast, there are only old. tired German soldiers in Belgium. I was living in Belgium a few days ago under the Boehe, and I tell you that the German soldiers, who were formerly smart and alert, are no longer enthusiastic. They are dull and depressed, and complain in the streets and cafes about the length of the war.”
