PUBLISHED IN HOLLAND

UNDERGROUND ANTI-HAZI PAPER MEW YORK, October 11. The United Press says Dutchman,Captain Jon Cornelia Hendriks, editor of the anti-Nazi Dutch underground newspaper ‘Voorwaarts’ (Forward), has arrived in New York after escaping from Holland. He told reporters how, the Dutch underground Press was published. “ Wo not only have the Gestapo to fear, but also the Dutch Nazis,” he said. “If we fool them the others are easy. The printers of official German propaganda also print * Voorwaarts ’■ in an open shop, but the Germans do not know it. ‘Voorwaarts’ was first published 21 months ago, and has appeared regularly every week since. All the printers are carefully-sifted members of tho anti-Nazi Party.. For ouo issue newsprint was not available, but finally underground workers bought the finest newsprint from corrupt Nazi officials, and the editor celebrated tho occasion by sending two copies of that issue to the German Commissioner, Dp Seyss-Inquart. “ The underground Press publishes news gathered mostly - by word of mouth, as well as excerpts of Allied broadcasts. It also exhorts workers to slow down, and encourages sabotage. The size of the ‘ Voorwaarts ’ is from eight to 18 pages, and its circulation is 60,000. It is distributed by trucks, trams, bicycles, and oven by mail. Once the circulation department used a, typewriter in tho town, hut the machine was eventually found and the owner was shot. It happened that the machine belonged to, a' Dutch Nazi, from whom_ wo _ borrowed it while ha was off prying into our affairs,” Cap* tain Hendriks dryly concluded.
