GERMAN OFFICERS
HIGH LOSSES IN SUBALTERNS LONDON, October 11. The Stockholm correspondent of the ‘ New York Times ’ says the exceptionally high losses of German subalterns, plus fears for the morale of the army during the forthcoming winter, have inspired Hitler to issue an ordinance of the day enabling any illiterate but reliable young Nazi to become an officer. Tlie emphasis in _ the ordinance on loyalty to the National Socialist Party and its leaders indicates that officers will henceforth be recruited among tough Nazi youngsters whose main qualifications are party ticket and vocal worship of Hitler.
