ROYAL LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY
The report of the Otago branch i of the Royal Life Saving Society, which;was presented at the meeting last night, stated that under the handicap of losingmany willing workers who are in the fighting services or in training, the society', has managed to carry on satisfactorily with instruction classes, and in the instruction of classes in artificial respiration operations have been both extensive and successful. Practically all the emergency services have been handled, as well as some.civilian classes, and as the work is still going on apace, there is room for still more instructors. ’especially for women’s classes. TAIERt RIVER TRUST Mr H. W. Wilson presided at the monthly, meeting of the Taieri Eiver Trust held at Mosgiel yesterday. The Minister of Public Works advised that he had approved of an additional subsidy of £2OO (£1 for £1) for the work of deepening Lee Creek Channel, this making a total subsidy of £SOO for the work mentioned. —Eeceived. It was decided to insert an 18in flood gate at Mr Matheson’s at Otoliia.
