OBITUARY

HR GEORGE GILLESPIE The .death of Mr George Gillespie, a highly-respected resident of Purekireki, caine as a shock to his many friends. He was the third son of the late Mr George Gillespie, who was among the first pioneers to take up land in the Upper Owaka Valley in the ’seventies. In 1925 Mr Gillespie took over his father’s property, and was actively engaged in farming pursuits until his death. He was closely identified with different organisations in the district, being a past president of the Collie Club. Mr Gillespie was a donor to the Dunedin Blood Bank, and had given in the past 11 months close on two gallons of blood. Ho saw service in the Great War, in which ho was twice wounded. Mr Gillespie is survived by six sisters and two brothers.
