HOMING PIGEONS
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew the opening race of the 1942 old bird racing season from Ashburton on Saturday. The station master liberated 115 birds, representing 13 lofts, in fine weather, which the birds appreciated by putting up a good flight. The winning bird, a blue chequer hen, flew the 153 miles in 3h 22min, at a velocity of 1,344.2yds a minute. Results:— J. Ramsay’s Tainui Queen 1. C. Napier’s Windsor 2, J. Scoullar’s Overland Red 3. .1. McPherson’s Hurry Girl 4, M. Anderson’s Hill Laddie 5. The club will fly another race from Ashburton next Saturday.
