TEMPORARY RELEASE FROM CAMPS (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 2. Advice that the Government nad approved of tiie release from the Army of shearers, musterers, experienced shed hands, and shearers’ cooks for a period of approximately 12 weeks for shearing was received by the North Canterbury District Council of Primary Production to-day in a Jotter from the Director ot Primary Production. The letter also stated that the district man power officers had been instructed to release men from essential industries for shearing in all eases except where their work was ot exceptional urgency. No men are to be released from overseas units, and in the case of men in key positions the Army is to have adequate time to effect replacements, one mouth being suggested. The procedure for obtaining the release ot men was outlined in the letter. The worker himself, or a farmer or a trade union secretary on behalf of a specified worker, will lodge his application for release from the Army with the secretary of the Primary Production Council, together with all the available particulars. The council will consider the application without delay, having regard to the adequacy of the run of work arranged by the applicant on his own behalf, or to the run of work which can bo arranged for the applicant.
