OBITUARY
MR JOHN VIGOR BROWN (P.A.) NAPIER, September 2. The death .has occurred of Mr John Vigor Brown, ex-mayor and M.P.; aged 88 years. [Mr Brown, who was born in Scotland, came to New Zealand from Australia in 1875. He was Mayor of Napier from 1907 to 1917, from 1911 to 1921, and from 1929 to 1933. He was member for the town in Parliament from 1908 to 1922. As mayor he came into prominence for his notable work in organising rebuilding and rehabilitation after the disastrous earthquake in 1931.] ■■
