RUSSIANS RAID BERLIN
- NEARLY FIFTY FIRES STARTED I. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. noon.) IRUG-BY, August 30. J The Moscow radio announced 1 that last night a group of Soviet y planes raided Berlin, Koenigsberg, Danzig, Stettin, and other towns s in central and eastern Germany. In Berlin, 48 fires, including 17 3 large ones, and nine explosions were caused. At Koenigsberg there were 29 fires and six explosions , and at Stettin six fires and two i explosions. All the Soviet planes 3 returned safely. [ LONDON, August 30. i Berlin, admitting the Russian ; raids on Germany last night, says ; explosives and incendiaries were F dropped over a wide area, causing i slight damage. Some raiders > reached Greater Berlin, but the ; anti-aircraft defences forced them up to a great height. They dropped i only single explosives and incendi- ; aries at random in the outer districts. Damage in Berlin was slight.
