SUBMARINE SUCCESSES
SUPPLY SHIPS HIT (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 29. Further successes by British submarines in the Mediterranean were announced to-day by the Admiralty. One submarine attacked a convoy consisting of two large supply ships escorted by three destroyers. The results were not observed, but it is considered that both supply ships were hit. Another submarine sank a tanker, while a third 111 sank a large supply ship. Another r ~ large supply ship was hit by a torl => pedo from a fourth submarine. . An earlier communique stated: “An 'j enemy vessel which had previously , been attacked by our torpedo-carrying 11 aircraft was sighted and observed to l “ be on lire north-west of Crete. An 15 enemy aircraft which attempted to fly over a delta landing ground was ate tacked by and was last seen on fire and losing height.” i- _ 1 ATTACK ON EL DABA g ~ BRITISH DESTROYERS SHELL TANK d REPAIR SHOP e ‘ n (British Official Wireless.) a (Rec. noon.) RUGBY, August 30. British destroyers rained shells on the t tank repair workshops and the store and dumps at El Dab a in the early hours of this morning, according to an agency correspondent aboard a British destroyer in the Eastern Mediterranean.
