P.S.S.A.
The annual meeting of the Presbyterian Social Service Association which was held last night was presided over by the convener, Mr T. Somerville. There was a great deal of distress among the older people of the community, said the Chairman in his opening remarks. If a large house could be purchased in Dunedin and a home for old people established, especially for those who were invalids, a great work could be done. Mr R. L. Fairmaid, speaking of the works in the association’s homes, said that there were at present 30 old boys in the armed forces. Three had made the supreme sacrifice and five had been wounded.
Others who spoke of the various work which is being done by the association were the Rev. C. M. Sullivan and Messrs T. C. Ross and S. P. Cameron.
