Bishop Fitchett returned from \\ e,lington by the express yesterday. Dr J. D. Salmond, director of youth work of the Presbyterian Church, is visiting Auckland. Mr J. S. Barton, of Wellington, has been visiting Invercargill to hear appeals against the valuation of impressed vehicles. Mr L. E. H. Baigent, of Nelson, was elected president of the Dominion Federated Sawmillers’ Association at the annual meeting recently, and Mr' K. C. A. Carter, of Ohaknne, vicepresident. The former president, Mr J. A. Bush, of Marton, who retired through ill-health after nine years in that office, was elected the first hf® member. - The council of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, meeting last night, confirmed the reappointment of Mr P. TV. Breen and Mr S. E. T. Crimp, as representatives of the Automobile Association (Otago) and the_ Otago and Southland Fire and Accident Underwriters’ Association respectively on the Chamber Latest registrations at the Grand Hotel include Mr F.
