JUNIOR CROSS-COUNTRY RAGE SOUTH ISLAND TITLE TO DUNEDIN The South Island junior cross-country championship was held at Timaru on Saturday in conjunction with tho TcmnkaTiuiuru road race, tho major honours in both events going to Dunedin runners. The junior race was contested by a field of about 40 runners, I lie road race attracting 50. Interest was enhanced by the presence of competitors from Christchurch and Dunedin and from several military camps. The junior championship was won by O. Nelson (Civil Service), whose brother, 11. Nelson, was the winner last year. Nelson won by 300yds after lending most of iho way. 'The road race, which was decided on a handicap basis, was won by M. V. Busby (Christchurch) froth the Bmin 15src mark, but the Fraser Cup (fastest time) was won by G. L. Austin (Caversham) for the fourth successive year. The junior teams race was won by Civil Service.
