BROADCASTS TO FRENCH PEOPLE OBSERVANCE OF INSTRUCTION (British Official Wireless.! RUGBY, Aug. 21. The 8.8. C. to-night broadcast an official message to the French people thanking those in the Dieppe area, and congratulating them on the scrupulous way in which the advice broadcast at the time of the raid was followed. There had, unfortunately, been a certian number of civilian casualties, and tlie British High Command wished to pay homage to those Frenchmen who lost their lives, as well as to its own men. The broadcast added that the instructions given still held good, and the French people were asked to follow the advice given rip to the day “ when we will be authorised to appeal to you for active help.’’
