He joined the staff' of the Public Trust Office as a cadet at Dunedin in 1917, and has held various posts on the accounting side off the office. He has occupied the posi-j tion of assistant chief accountant since) '1936. In 1939 he gained first prizej in an open thesis competition conducted] by the New Zealand Society of Ae-j oountants, his subject being * Executor-! ship Accounts/
