LOST AIRMEN
EXHAUSTIVE SEARCH FAILS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 8. An outline of the search that has been made for the missing training plane which disappeared recently in the Mokau district while en route from Hobsonville to Ohakea, was given by the Prime Minister in the House in reply to an urgent question by Mr Poison.
Mr Fraser said the entire coast had been covered up to a distance of 20 miles out to sea from the Manawatu River to Albatross Point. The inland area bounded by Albatross Point across to Pio ' Pio, and south through Ohura to Pipiriki aud then across to Waiouru, down Manawatu, and across to the mouth of the Turakina River had been thoroughly searched several times. A very intensive search had also been made in the vicinity of the Wanganui River-Mount Messenger area, and the Ruahiues. All reports received by the police or the Air Department were thoroughly investigated, and ground parties were organised whenever there had been a possibility of reports proving authentic. Aircraft from Now Plymouth were still searching areas from which new reports had been received.
