THURSDAY, OCTOBER 0. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.I DRUNKENNESS. William Rennie, a statutory first offender, for drunkenness, was fined 20s, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. THEFT FROM CRIB. William Harold Clarence Lowe pleaded guilty to the theft at Otakou on September 13 of preserved fruit and Chocolate, of a total value of 3s, the property of Duncan M'Farlane. Detective-sergeant Hall, who prosecuted, said that the accused, who was aged 17 years and 10 months, had teen licensed out to a farmer at Otakou, and on the night of September _ 13 went for a walk after tea. He said he felt hungry, and broke into the crib at Otakou and stole the articles mentioned. He had been very unsxtisfactory in his work.
The accused was admitted to probation for a period of two years, restitution to be made as directed by the probation officer.
