Hon. A. Campbell, M.L.C., left for Wellington this morning. Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P., was a passenger by the express to-day, bound for Wellington. Mr R. Wilson Brown left for Christchurch by this morning’s express. His Honour Mr Justice Kennedy is expected to arrive this evening from Wellington, where he has been engaged in a sitting of the Court of Appeal. Colonel F. F. Bowerbank, 0.8. E., Director of Medical Services, ArmyHeadquarters, Wellington, and Colonel Sir Hugh Acland, C.M.G., C.8.E., Assistant Director of Medical Supplies, arrived yesterday. Subsequently, with Lieutenant-colonel T. M'Kibbin, Medical Officer of Health for Otago, they inspected the Forbury military camp, and to-day inspected the Wingatui military camp and the Taieri Aerodrome.
Mr R. Watkins, business agent of the railways at Invercargill, has taken over the position of bus manager of the railway road services, Dunedin, in place of Mr J. K. Goodley, transferred to Wellington.
Mr S. W. Knight, of Waipori Falls, has presented to the Returned Soldiers’ Association an enlarged photograph of the First New Zealand ExpeditionaryForce in camp at Zeitoun, Egypt, and appreciation of the gesture was recorded at last night’s meeting of the executive.
Mr L. A. Robb, president of the NewSouth Wales branch of the Returned Sailors and Soldiers’ Imperial League of Australia, who has been State president for 10 years, will retire from office at the end of next year. Mr Robb visited New Zealand at the beginning of this year as head of a delegation from the league and spent several days in Dunedin. A tribute to the memory of the late Mr John Hutcheson and expressions of sympathy with his widow and relatives were paid in a motion moved by the Prime Minister, seconded by the Leader of the Opposition, and carried by the House of Representatives. Mr Hutcheson represented the City of Wellington constituency in Parliament from 1896 to 1902. The House adjourned at 3.10 until 7.30 last 'evening as a mark of respect to his memory.—Press Association,
At a meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Competitions Society last’ night reference was made to the death of Mr W. Russell-Wood’s mother, and it was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mr Russell-Wood. Grand Hotel guests include Mr P. C. Jordan, Mrs M. East (Wellington); Mr N. Smith (Mount Cook). Mr F. T.
