WAR EMERGENCY REGULATIGNS MINISTER'S POWER TO INFLICT PENALTIES [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 9. The recent amendment to the War Emergency Regulations giving the Minister power to inflict penalties was considered at a stopwork meeting of the Wellington Watersiders’ Union this morning. According to an official report some 700 members were present, and the following resolution was carried by a substantial majority;— “ That this branch of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union protests vigorously against the recent amendment to the War Emergency Regulations empowering the Minister to inflict farreaching and drastic penalties on officers and the rank and file members of industrial unions; and further instructs the branch delegates to the Trades Council to take the matter up in council at the earliest opportunity.”
