DAMAGED STOCKS
FIRE STARTS IN STUDIO [Piiii United Press Association.J WELLINGTON, October 8. A fire iu the early hours of this morning at 102-104 Wakefield street, was responsible for considerable damage to stocks, mainly by water, and some damage to the building and the complete gutting of the studio of Max Studios, display advertisers, where the fire started. At the rear of the top floor an empty room alongside was also burned out, and the partitions in the passage were blackened and charred. The offices of diaries MT’hce and Co., woollen warehousemen, escaped with damage to the ceiling, and some minor watqr damage. Water, dirt, and charred wood penetrated to the floor below, considerably damaging the stocks of ,1 E. Sutcliffe Ltd., warehousemen, which had been covered with canvas shoots bv firemen tin’s nreventing serious loss. Water reaching the Jlible and Tract Denot. two floors below, was particularly destructive. mining a quantity of hooks and nomnblets
