SPAIN’S DECISION
EXPECTED THIS WEEK-END, MAY REMAIN NON-BELLIGERENT LONDON. October 3. ‘ The Times ’ correspondent on the Italian frontier says that well-informed circles in Rome state that the Minister of the Interior, Senor Suner, exhaustively discussed the possibility of allowing Italian-German troops free passage across Spain in order to attack Gibraltar. It is expected that Spain’s role in the conflict will be announced at the week-end. From Dr Gayda’s comment it is assumed that Spain will at present remain non-belligerent, though obviously she has agreed to closer economic co-operation with the Axis.
