One of the best of the Scottish stories fathered on Aberdeen concerns the' Glasgow man who found himself penniless in the Granite City, and reluctantly decided to beg the price of a bed. Ho waited until nightfall in order to hide his shame, and then began on tho top floor of a “ land o’ hooses.” To tlio woman who answered his timid knock, he said in a professional winning voice, ‘‘Please mem, will ye gio a puir body tippence for a bod ? ”
‘ Gie ye tippence for a bed maniue?” she exclaimed. “ Bring’t up and let’s see it first.”
