COLLIERIES IDLE

NEW AWARD RESENTED Press Association—By Telegraph —Copyright SYDNEY, October 2 Another coal hold-up, on this occasion at south coast collieries, and sheeting over 3,000 men, began to-day. The miners are seeking the suspension of the new award, which, according to the miners, takes away their seniority rights, which they have enjoyed for 40 years, and gives the owners the right to “ hire or fire ” irrespective of seniority. The men also object to the new provisions governing work on coalcutting machines. A compulsory conference has been convened for Friday.
