Queensland Sportsman’s Death. The death occurred last mouth, at Brisbane, of Mr P. C. Sapsford, secretary of the Queensland Bowling Association, who had occupied that position for the record term of 33 years. Mr ,Sapsford, who was 71 years of age, was well known to many New Zealand bowlers, and was a captain of many Queensland interstate sides. In liis younger days lie was a noted cyclist and a Queensland representative Rugby footballer, as well as being a first-class cricketer. Weight-lifting Championships. Wei "lit lifting is becoming recognised not only as an excellent body-building pastime, but as a most enjoyable competitive sport, and national championships arc to bo held at Wanganui at the end of the present month. Henry Rcw, the English international forward, who gained 10 caps and was one of the outstanding forwards in British Isles between 1929 and 1931 (ho was in New Zealand with the 1930 British side), is in an English hospital severely wounded. He is a tank officer.

Champion Swimmer in Camp. W. H. Dyson, the national men’s 100yds breast stroke champion, has been training with the Territorials for the last few weeks, and ho entered Burnham Camp at the beginning of this week. Although Dyson is only 20 years of age, he has won most of the' honours offering in breast stroke competition, besides representing his province at water polo for the last three years of its successful defence of the trophy. Twice Dyson was runner-up in the_ national 220yds men’s breast stroke cliainpionsliin. and on one occasion before ho won the 100yds title he was runner-up. He holds national men’s breast stroke records for 100yds, 100 metres, and 400 metres, and, though healen by a touch in the national furlong last season,, also succeeded in lowering the existing record.. , Boxing Revival in Invercargill. Tho Southland Boxing Association, which went out of existence largely as the result of tho misfortune that befell it when part of the staging collapsed at one of its contests, has been revised, and the first match to be staged by the resuscitated association will bo a contest between Vie. Caltaux, of Auckland, and Johnny Hutchison, the American negro.
