DAFFODIL SHOW
SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP [Per United Press Association.] TIMARU. October 1. At the South Island annual daffodil show to-day Mr 0. Lewis (Christchurch) won five trophies for collections and also a trophy for 12 varieties of seedlings. The champion bloom was exhibited by Mr K. B. Burns (Timaru). Other results: —Premier blooms: Mr W. Batch (Christchurch), one award; Messrs G. Lewis and K. Burns, two awards each. Amateur class: South Island championship, Mr K, Burns. Mr Burns also won the Empire championshp for the best exhibit. The judge, the Rev. A. W. Avery, ’said the exhibits were equal to anythng ho had seen at national shows throughout the Dominion. There had been a wonderful improvement since the previous South Island show in Timaru six years ago.
