STRAND ARMY QUEEN SING MORE DONATIONS FOR PARCELS Forty pounds was the amount of the donations at the Strand community sing to-day. Most of this will be hanSed over to Airini’s (Army Queen) Committee, whilst the remainder will go for parcels for soldiers. Again, there .was an excellent attendance. The appearance of Miss Mavis ' Macdonald’s Castalian Singers, a party of women, scored a “ hit,” their numbers being ‘ Dream Sellers,’ ‘ Nursery Rhymes,’ and ‘ Songs My Mother Taught Me.’ Three Maori tikis, made with the left hand by a local disabled soldier, brought 15s and 10s, with one held over. Among other articles sold were a silver inkstand (£5), and a lady’s handbag (£2). . ' Next week, a combined sing will be held for the Navy and Air Force Queens’ appeal—Misses Jessie. MT.ennan and Mary Pratt will be in attendance.
